Prices and payments

All prices quoted on the website are stated in Pounds Sterling and are inclusive of VAT where applicable, but are exclusive of delivery charges which are clearly detailed on the “delivery” page.

Payment may be made using Mastercard, Visa, Swich, Maestro or Delta.  Payment will be debited from your account upon receipt of your order.  No goods will be dispatched until credit/debit card transactions have been authorised and payment received.

Every care has been taken to ensure that all prices are correct at the time of publishing, in the unlikely event that a mistake has been made with our pricing, you will be given an opportunity to cancel your order or to accept the accurate price. We are not bound to sell any goods at a mistakenly published price.


Card security

We use secure online order forms and high levels of encryption to ensure the safety of your transaction information.  We have included every security measure to protect and prevent any unauthorised access to all data we collect online.  Should you not wish to enter your card details online, we will be happy to take them over the telephone 01206 214 000. Please do not send any card details via e-mail as we cannot ensure secure passage of this information via this medium.

Privacy & data protection

When you register online with thefoodcompany.co.uk we will collect personal data from you to enable us to process and deliver your order, respond to your enquiries and process payments.  We may also use this personal data to communicate with you about promotional offers via e-mail and send you newsletters and promotions including those from other associated businesses that you have opted to receive. If you would prefer not to receive information about any offers, newsletters or promotions, please inform us by e-mail websales@thefoodcompany.co.uk or by telephone
01206 214000. We will not share your personal details with any third parties.

Product availability

We will always do our best to ensure that all items offered for sale on the website are available. Due to the nature of our fresh food products, some may have limited availability. In the event that we are unable to fulfil your order due to limited availability of any product, we will contact you by
e-mail, at which point you may choose an alternative product, leave the order on hold until the product becomes available, or we will give you a full refund. If we are unable to contact you within 24 hours, we reserve the right to send out the part of your order that is available and refund you in full for any unavailable products.

We deal mostly with small scale producers of artisan fresh produce, we do not therefore hold large volumes of most of our goods. Should you wish to place an order for a quantity of goods larger than we hold stock of you will be prompted to contact us so that we can deal with your order on an individual basis.

 

Delivery

Schedule

Orders received by 11am Monday to Thursday will be delivered next day by courier. Orders received after 11am on these days will be processed to be sent out the following day.
Orders received on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be delivered on Tuesday.
We are unable to arrange delivery for a specific time during the day; deliveries will be made during working hours (8.30am to 5.30pm). We do not offer a Saturday delivery and are unable to deliver on Bank Holidays.
Orders for fresh and chilled products will be packed in insulated boxes with ice packs and due to the nature of these products our carriers will not return any unsigned for or undelivered deliveries. There will be no refund available for any unsigned for deliveries, therefore if you wish to have the order left unsigned for, neither The Food Company nor the courier will assume any liability.
We only offer delivery to addresses in the UK mainland. 


Costs

Our standard delivery charge is £7.95
Orders over £100 will be delivered free of charge, excluding hampers.
Orders for chilled and fresh produce will be packed in insulated boxes with ice packs and are subject to a £3.50 surcharge.
Hampers are subject to their own delivery charges, which are detailed on the hamper pages.

Returns and order cancellations

We endeavour to provide service of the highest level, if for any reason you are not entirely satisfied with either the service you receive, or our produce, please let us know by e-mail to websales@thefoodcompany.co.uk or by telephone on 01206 214000.

For orders of ambient products, including wine and giftware, we offer a seven (7) day cancellation period. If you wish to return unwanted goods, you must notify us by e-mail or in writing within the seven (7) day cancellation period. The return will be made at your own cost. The goods must be returned to us in the same condition as they were supplied to you. A refund for the full amount of the original order will be made to your card upon successful return of the goods.

It is not possible to return chilled or fresh goods due to the nature of these products.

Claims for damaged or faulty goods on orders of ambient products, wine or giftware must be made within three (3) working days of receipt. Upon receiving notification of such claims we will arrange collection of the goods. Should your claim be valid we will refund your card for the full amount of your original order.

Claims for damaged goods on orders of chilled or fresh produce must be made on the day of delivery before 6pm. In this instance your claim will be dealt with on an individual basis, please

On orders for services you will have seven (7) days to cancel this contract, except where the service is due to start within seven (7) days of placing the order, in which case you will be able to cancel the order up to the point when the service begins.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Sale of alcohol

Pursuant to the Licensing Act 1967 it is an offence for any person under the age of 18 to buy intoxicating liquor, or for any person over the age of 18 to buy intoxicating liquor on behalf of any person under the age of 18, subject to a maximum fine of £1000.

By placing an order with us you are confirming that you are 18 years old or older.

We will not deliver to customers who we believe are under the age of 18 and our couriers reserve the right to request formal identification should they suspect the recipient to be below the age of 18. In the event that the customer is unable to produce satisfactory identification, they will not leave the delivery and return costs will apply.
